Alexander Payne, director and Oscar-winning co-writer of “Sideways,” will direct the HBO pilot “Hung,” the Hollywood Reporter says. The drama centers around a middle-aged father/basketball coach who uses his physical endowment to make some extra cash, the newspaper says. The pilot, written by “The Riches” creator Dmitry Lipkin and his wife and writing partner, Colette Burson, marks Payne’s first foray into television, the newspaper notes.
