AT&T is seeking to get Energy Star certification for its U-verse TV set-top boxes, Multichannel News reports. The Environmental Protection Agency revised its energy-efficiency guidelines for the voluntary program to require all new cable, satellite and telco set-top boxes that carry the Energy Star logo to be at least 30% more efficient than conventional models by Jan. 1, 2009, the newspaper says. A spokeswoman for AT&T said all deployed U-verse TV set-tops are in compliance with the new requirements, the newspaper notes.
