Cable News Neglects China Earthquake

May 23, 2008  •  Post A Comment

The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found that the cable news channels have devoted more coverage to the ongoing political campaign than to the earthquake in China despite viewer interest in the natural disaster, the Hollywood Reporter says. Twenty-two percent of Americans said they were following the news about the Chinese earthquake more closely than any other news stories during the week of May 12-18, the newspaper says. However, only 13% of news coverage during the week was devoted to the event, the newspaper notes.
