Cable Operators Want Inclusion in FCC Plans

May 2, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Cable operators Charter Communications, Mediacom Communications and Cequel Communications are urging Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin to broaden a proposal that would give small cable operators relief from rules requiring the duplicative carriage of some local TV signals, Multichannel News reports. The plan includes relief for cable systems with 552 MHz of capacity or less, but the three cable operators said they should be included because they do not have a big enough subscriber base to justify a digital upgrade of their 750 MHz systems, the newspaper says.
