U.S. regulators may oppose Cablevision’s attempted acquisition of Newsday on anti-competitive grounds, Multichannel News reports, citing a financial analyst’s report. Sanford C. Bernstein analyst Craig Moffet says the Federal Communications Commission might block the transaction because of Cablevision’s dominant position in Long Island cable operations and Newsday’s position as Long Island’s primary daily newspaper, according to Multichannel.
