Studios Blast SAG Demands

As contract talks stall, the major studios criticized demands made by the Screen Actors Guild as unreasonable and unrealistic, Daily Variety reports. On its Web site, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers posted an update with the message that there will be no deal unless the union changes its positions on new media and DVD payments.

  1. Both sides herer have learned absolutely nothing from the Writer’s Guild strike. Instead of trying to recoup losses from that strike, they seemed poised to start another damaging strike. This could be the end of Hollywood as we know it, possibly forever.
Hopefully, they will agree on an extension for talks.
How about giving actors an increase in residuals right now, with a provision for further ongoing talks on this issue? That might ease tensions.
It just seems difficult to believe that thye aren’t trying harder to resolve this.
