Discovery Communications Founder and Chairman John Hendricks last year received bigger paychecks than top execs at most bigger media companies, the Wall Street Journal reports. Mr. Hendricks earned almost $57.9 million in cash and stock options, almost double the compensation of News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch and CBS CEO Leslie Moonves, and nearly three times the pay of Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman and Time Warner CEO Jeffrey Bewkes, according to the Journal. The compensation of top Discovery executives was disclosed in a proxy statement covering the plan by Discovery parents Discovery Holding Co. and Advance/Newhouse to take the company public.
