Paul Douglas, formerly a chief meteorologist at WCCO Minneapolis, is launching his own syndicated weather service aimed at stations, cable networks and Web sites, Broadcasting & Cable reports. WeatherNation, which broadcasts out of Excelsior, Minn., offers an a la carte selection of meteorologist and sets, the newspaper says. The service also features 3-D Doppler radar and a 65-inch interactive touch screen that could be pitched as a replacement to station meteorologists, the newspaper notes.
