SAG Takes AFTRA Deal to Task

The Screen Actors Guild held a town hall meeting on Wednesday, at which it distributed a fact sheet to members detailing its problems with AFTRA’s tentative deal with the media companies, the Hollywood Reporter says. SAG took issue with the AFTRA deal’s residuals for TV shows streamed online, loss of jurisdiction in new media and a lack of protection for actors’ control over use of their clips in new media, the newspaper says. The results of AFTRA’s member vote for ratification of the new deal are expected by July 9, the newspaper notes.
