Senate Frees Up More DTV Funds

The Senate approved an amendment to the Deficit Reduction Act that would free up “leftover funds” from the DTV-to-analog converter box program, Broadcasting & Cable reports. The funds will be used to assist senior citizens, minorities and rural viewers in making the transition to digital signals away from the current analog system, the newspaper says. Funds will also be made available to low-power broadcasters, the newspaper notes.
