Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired Dutch company 2waytraffic, which owns the rights to “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” as well as British TV series “You Are What You Eat” and the quiz shows “Take It or Leave It” and “That’s the Question,” the Los Angeles Times reports. Foreign programs like the ones 2waytraffic have yielded big American hits such as “American Idol” and “Dancing With the Stars,” the newspaper says. The Japanese-owned movie and TV studio produces shows for other networks since it doesn’t have its own U.S. broadcast network or cable channel, the newspaper notes.
