Film studios have been in discussions with the Federal Communications Commission about letting consumers watch newer films from home in exchange for getting the right to block certain video signals from being transferred to televisions from set-top boxes, the Wall Street Journal reports. The FCC isn’t expected to decide on the action, which would help studios stop illegal film copying, until at least the fall, the Journal says.
