Tony Schwartz, who created the most famous political ad to appear on TV, died Saturday at his Manhattan home at the age of 84, the New York Times reports. Mr. Schwartz was an advertising executive and media consultant who in 1964 created the “Daisy” spot for President Lyndon Johnson designed to convince voters that it was dangerous to have Republican Sen. Barry Goldwater’s finger on the nuclear button. The minute-long spot aired once and showed a little girl plucking petals from a daisy as an ominous countdown was heard in the background, followed by an atom bomb blast.
