AT&T said it had about 550,000 subscribers for its U-verse fiber-optic television service at the end of the second quarter and will have more than 1 million subscribers by the end of the year, the Hollywood Reporter says. Such growth is likely to hurt subscriber levels at cable companies such as Comcast and Time Warner Cable, the newspaper says, citing Collins Stewart analyst Tom Eagan.
