CNN and Fox News called out MSNBC on a press release that heralded “Hardball with Chris Matthews” as the top show among adults during the month of June at 5 p.m. because data used to make the claim included coverage of Tim Russert’s death and memorial service that was not part of “Hardball,” Multichannel News reports. MSNBC acknowledged the mistake, noting it was actually CNN’s “Situation Room” that ranked first in the 5 p.m. slot for the month, Multichannel says.
