HBO and Campfire, an independent agency founded by two of the creators of “The Blair Witch Project,” have been marketing HBO’s upcoming vampire series “True Blood” since May 21, the New York Times reports. The companies sent horror film bloggers and Fangoria magazine subscribers cryptic letters in black envelopes sealed with red wax, which once translated lead to a Web site, the newspaper says. The extensive campaign, which requires six full-time Campfire employees, will be 4 months old by the time the show premieres in September, the newspaper notes.
