Media Deal Attached to Shanghai Disney Park

Plans to build a Disneyland park in Shanghai could include a media deal that would give the Walt Disney Co. unrivaled access to the market, according to documents obtained by Reuters. The agreement would allow Disney to bypass foreign film import quotas, summer and holiday blackout periods and television censorship in order to promote its brand and tourism to the park, the wire service says. A Disney park spokesman said there was “no agreement and no deal” in place to build a new park, the wire service notes.
