Musical Acts Turn ‘Colbert’ into ‘Sullivan’

Jul 16, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Stephen Colbert’s Comedy Central program is looking more like a latter-day Ed Sullivan-style variety show, with bands being books more and more frequently, the Associated Press reports. On Wednesday night, the Canadian band Rush will appear on “The Colbert Report,” which is loosely modeled on the broadcast stylings of bombastic conservatives such as Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh. Other upcoming appearances by musical acts on Colbert’s show include Nas, Toby Keith and Crosby, Stills and Nash, according to the AP.
