Cablevision Gets Favorable Court Ruling

Aug 4, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Cablevision received a favorable court ruling today related to its pending launch of a digital video recorder service after a federal appeals court in Manhattan threw out an earlier ruling blocking its release, Reuters reports. Film and TV content producers had complained the Remote Storage DVR, or RS-DVR, would violate copyright law, Reuters says, but the court said the service, which would store programs on Cablevision servers, was no different from providing an actual DVR. The case was sent back to U.S. District Court in New York for further proceedings.
