Charter Communications posted a second-quarter loss of $276 million, or 74 cents per share, on sales of $1.62 billion, compared with a loss of $360 million, or 98 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter, Multichannel News reports. It blamed the loss on slumping basic-cable subscriptions. Although it’s in the red, Charter added 98,900 new customers, bringing its total customer base to roughly 12.2 million subscribers.
