Comcast announced Thursday it would officially set a limit on the amount of data subscribers can download and upload each month, the Associated Press reports. Customers will be allowed 250 gigabytes of traffic monthly beginning Oct. 1. Customers who go over the limit will be contacted by Comcast requesting them to curb their usage. This adds to Comcast already endorsing the policy of cutting off subscribers who use too much bandwidth each month.

I fail to see the connection between a cap on usage and speed; how does a 250GB-limit slow down traffic or otherwise impact the on-line experience as the title suggests? Even passing the limit – per your article – garners a request to curb usage, not an interuption of service. Should I assume this was proofed by the same editor who told us the Canoe venture was checking the ‘weather’ for the election channel?
