The Directors Guild of America issued a letter today defending the new-media deal it made with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers, amid stalled talks between the producers and the Screen Actors Guild, Daily Variety reports. The letter, titled “Giving New Media Room to Grow” and written by DGA president Michael Apted, will appear in the DGA’s monthly magazine as well as 13,000 e-mail in boxes today. SAG has been reluctant to accept the same offer on new media from the producers that was already agreed to by the DGA, WGA and AFTRA.
