Sinclair Broadcasting’s pending $85 million acquisition from Raycom of CBS affiliate WTVR-TV in Richmond, Va., was turned down by the U.S. Justice Department because of antitrust concerns, TVNewsday reports. With the purchase, Sinclair would have owned both the Fox and CBS affiliates in the 59th largest U.S. television market, TVNewsday says.
