Inspired by viewers’ response to its series “Intervention,” A&E Network has organized an initiative to help raise awareness that addiction is a treatable disease, Multichannel News reports. The Recovery Project, organized in partnership with the National Council on Alcoholism & Drug Dependence, kicks off Sept. 27 with a New York City celebration. Individuals and families who are in recovery, treatment partners and advocates from around the country will join to form a human chain across the Brooklyn Bridge and then proceed to a rally at Manhattan’s City Hall Park.
