Some TV stations have already notified cable operators and satellite distributors that they will be demanding payments for their retransmission-consent rights, Multichannel News reports. The deadline for deciding between seeking compensation or simple must-carry status without payments is Oct. 1. Some stations are seeking as much a $1.10 per subscriber per month, according to the American Cable Association.

  1. If they are going to be demanding money from the CATV operators or satelitte providers, we know the cable companies will pass the cost off to the consumers. If that is the case, then please remove all local advertising from the channels.
