FCC Urges Stores on DTV Boxes

Kevin Martin, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, wrote a letter to the Consumer Electronics Retailers Coalition urging its member retail stores to carry digital TV converter boxes, Broadcasting & Cable reports. A request was made by the chairman to encourage stores like Wal-Mart, Sears, Best Buy, Circuit City and RadioShack to carry the devices. According to Martin, the box would essentially be free with the government’s 40$ subsidy coupon, B&C says.
