FX Opens ‘Shield’s’ Final Act

“The Shield,” which opened cable-television programming to gritty, high-quality original shows, debuts its final season tonight, TelevisionWeek notes. After being labeled a show that sponsors would shun, FX persuaded leery advertisers to take a chance and the last season is sponsored by Budweiser.
