Getting to Know CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo

The financial crisis has made CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo more popular than ever, and she gets the Vanity Fair treatment in the magazine’s November issue. The “Barbara Walters of business news,” as Vanity Fair calls her, talks about Wall Street’s misfortunes, her supposed rivalry with fellow CNBC anchor Erin Burnett and why the host of CNBC’s “Closing Bell” and the syndicated “The Wall Street Journal Report With Maria Bartiromo” still chases the story. “This is my story; I have to do it. I’m not going to let news happen and not know what’s going on,” she said of the Lehman Brothers collapse.

  1. Would like to hear comments regarding the suggestion made by the Today show real estate “expert” regarding current real estate inventories. Her suggestion was to have the government subsidize a standardized 30 year fixed rate to a level substantially lower than current rates (4.50 example). That would stimulate activity in the buying arena helping to lower inventories. As selling picks up it would allow for refinance abilities that are currently stagnant due to inventories driving values lower. The additional benefit of refinance possibilities would help lower future risks for those on ARMS that have not yet had adjustments. It would seem this is a viable option to be included in the “bailout” that might give immediate relief to “main street”. Is there anything like that idea in the plans??? If not, what would be the downside??? It seemed like a reasonable idea, what are your thoughts???

  2. Love the blog here. Nice colors. I am definitely staying tuned to this one. Hope to see more.
