The Big Three networks have agreed to phase out integration fees, MediaWeek reports. The fees, long considered archaic by advertisers and ad agencies, were used by the broadcast networks to cover the cost of inserting ads into programming. Since the 1980s, however, the process has been automated, thereby making the cost for NBC, ABC and CBS to insert advertising decline considerably.
