CNN has announced finalists for recognition and a $100,000 award during the news network’s second annual Thanksgiving “heroes” special, the Associated Press reports. Among the nominees are a marathon runner who helped homeless people, a nanny who opened a school in her native Malawi and a man who supplies medical equipment to the needy in Mexico. While the show is unusual for a news network, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper tells the wire service: “I was actually blown away by last year’s special; I found it very moving.” Cooper will serve as host for the Nov. 27 ceremony to be held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
