Comcast Offering $10 Basic Cable

Oct 8, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Comcast is gearing up for February’s national transition from analog to digital television by offering broadcast-only homes a basic cable package for $10, Multichannel News reports. Part of its “Get Ready” initiative, Comcast will honor the $10 price point for one year. Comcast will offer the same package for free if a consumer signs up for another Comcast service such as high-speed data or cable telephony, Multichannel says. The basic package will range from 20 to 30 channels and will vary depending on the community where the consumer lives.

  1. I wonder how many DTV and low power stations are to be missing. Cable decides what you get, what you can watch, etc. you may not get all of the networks, small or large. For example, in Detroit, is low power channel 26 on cable? How about standard powered, WADL 38? In Toledo, WADL’s (“Detroit’s Urban Station…WADL 38”) a normal NTSC and ATSC channel, without cable.
That’s one reason for not paying one cent to any cable operator.
