Fox News Focuses on Obama Associations

Oct 7, 2008  •  Post A Comment

As Republicans attacked Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama for his past relationships to activists, Fox News Channel Sunday ran a show with a similar theme called “Obama & Friends: The History of Radicalism,” the New York Times notes. Sean Hannity a conservative radio and TV host, raised accusations on the show that Obama worked as a community organizer in Chicago “Training for a radical overthrow of the government,” the paper says. Hannity executive producer John Finley said the program was clearly opinion and that its audience (average 1.5 million to 2 million viewers) knew to take it as opinion, the Times says.

  1. If Fox is really “fair and balanced” perhaps they’ll focus next on Sarah and Todd Palin’s association with the radical in Alaska who hates America and called for Alaska’s secession from the USA. Isn’t that paling around with a domestic terrorist?
Or how about that Reverend Muthee who persecutes women as witches? Except when he’s laying hands on them and praying they’ll become a governor, while casting out witchcraft.
Those little tidbits aren’t just opinion. They’re facts.
Oops, I forgot. Fixed News is a propaganda tool for the Republican party. Fascism anyone?

  2. I watched the show Sunday and was surprised at the aggressive producing. As a 30 minute show it didn’t appear as opinion.
Olbermann last night closed with an opinion piece (which was clearly identified and presented as opinion) which used the associations with Palin noted by Wanda.
I prefer the MSNBC style. Clearly opinion.

  3. Fox is the Republican News Channel – everybody knows it who’s in the media business. Most of Joe Six-Packs know this. People aren’t stupid. The US TV industry has never had a news network as a tool of one party before – it’s not uncommon in third world countries. “Fair and Balanced” is the most cynical possible slogan.
