Hyundai Buys GM’s Abandoned Oscar Spots

Hyundai has purchased all spots General Motors abandoned for next February’s Academy Awards telecast, Advertising Age reports. General Motors had been a sponsor of the awards show for the past 11 years but recent financial troubles forced the Detroit automaker to slash its marketing budget. Details of Hyundai’s ad purchase weren’t released, including whether or not it paid the premium as GM did last year to be the Oscars’ exclusive automotive sponsor.
