Local Attack Ads Even Among Candidates

According to Nielsen Monitor-Plus, presidential candidates Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain have run about the same number of local TV ads, Broadcasting & Cable reports. From the end of the primaries in June to the first week of September, McCain ads ran 76,192 times; Obama ads ran 72, 246 times. These totals include ads from nonprofits that aren’t directly associated with the campaigns, known as 527 groups. Both campaigns ran the most ads—14,397 for McCain, 11,037 for Obama—in the battleground state of Ohio.
