U.K. Pay TV May Take Hit from Crisis

Pay T.V. companies in Britain will be hard-hit by the current global economic crisis as subscribers are expected to downgrade or cancel their services altogether, Daily Variety reports, citing a Continental Research study. According to the London-based research firm, about 25% of survey participants are planning on changing their subscription packages or canceling them, the trade paper says. The anticipated courses of action will not only affect major pay TV services such as BSkyB and Virgin Media, but also the cable channels losing viewers.
