Winfrey in Running for Ambassador to Britain?

If Barack Obama were to be elected president, could friend and supporter Oprah Winfrey be appointed as his ambassador to Great Britain? The Times of London is reporting a rumor that the talk show queen’s name could be in the running. “It could be a perfectly sensible appointment,” says Peter Jay, former British ambassador to the United States during the Carter administration. “You need someone who is close enough to the president to interpret events and get a message back to Washington. It would send a clear message about the new administration.” Caroline Kennedy is also said to be a contender for the ambassador role.
