Even with the automotive sector among the hardest hit by the economic turmoil, Ford Motor Company says it will continue to act as sponsor for “American Idol” during 2009, Broadcasting & Cable reports. An unnamed spokesperson for Ford confirmed the news. The company spent $78 million in sponsorship last year alone, and has contributed $328.5 million during the last seven seasons, the trade says.
