Hard-to-Reach Demo Uses Hulu

A report by Solutions Research Group found most Hulu users are part of a coveted, hard-to-reach demographic, MediaPost says. Hulu users skew young, with an average age of 32, and are predominately males–who make up about two-thirds of Hulu’s audience. The study also found the average Hulu user earns 22% more than the national average and is tech-friendly, with 68% of the audience owning a laptop and 30% who own a smartphone. This should be great news for News Corp. and NBC Universal, joint partners in the online venture, since this same demographic is also least likely to watch appointment television. “The very audience that’s proving elusive in linear is right up there,” said SRG analyst Kaan Yigit.
