Hulu to Eclipse YouTube in Sales

Research firm Screen Digest expects Hulu to surpass YouTube in advertising revenue next year, the Financial Times reports. This year, YouTube is expected to generate $30 million more domestically than the NBC Universal-News Corp. upstart. Next year, however, both companies are expected to take in about $180 million. “YouTube is in a very tough place right now,” says Screen Digest analyst Arash Armel. “Most of that user-generated content is worthless or illegal. The next 18 months will determine whether or not it was just an expensive mistake for Google.”
