U.S. Media Companies Invade India

Viacom, Time Warner, NBC Universal and News Corp. all have channels battling for market share in India, where the ad business is booming, the Wall Street Journal reports. The emergence of the new channels “is driven by the opportunity of scale that India represents — and it has resulted in an extraordinarily competitive moment,” Steve Marcopoto, the Asia chief executive of Time Warner’s Turner Networks, tells the paper.
