Discovery Education Cashes in on Archives

Discovery Communications is digging through its archived footage to sell science and nature programming to schools around the country, BusinessWeek reports. While the original subscription service failed to take off with parents and schools, Discovery Education then opened up its entire archive and targeted material specifically to school districts and their needs. Today the business is considered “decent,” with the potential to pull in $240 million if it can reach the country’s 120,000 schools, the magazine says.
