Several films are no longer available for purchase or rental on Apple’s iTunes or Netflix because of licensing requirements and competition with TV, CNET reports. Online and digital retailers are being treated differently than other physical retailers and rental stores with regards to how long they are able to keep films available to consumers in their release windows, the site says. Films are being pulled when they conflict with their availability on TV, cable, premium channels and pay-per-view services, all which pay a premium for broadcast rights, CNET says.
