Google and YouTube are backing a new Web-video contest aimed at pulling musicians together for an orchestra, the New York Times reports. The first of the two-part promotion will allow participants to play an original piece composed by Tan Dun for consideration in a video mash up with other musicians. The second aspect will invite musicians from around the world to audition via online video for a chance at performing with other selected individuals at Carnegie Hall in April, the newspaper says.
