Writer-producer-actor-director Carl Reiner and premium cable channel Showtime were honored at the Paley Center for Media’s gala in Los Angeles Thursday night, the Hollywood Reporter says. The general sentiment toward Reiner, as Lily Tomlin put it, was that there weren’t “any lousy, juicy stories to tell” because of the “great working environment” he creates, the trade says. With regard to Showtime, “Weeds” co-star Elizabeth Perkins said the network “became a powerful microphone for often marginalized voices to entertain, inform and be heard,” according to the Reporter.
