Some analysts predict that if President-elect Barack Obama goes through with the expected nomination of Julius Genachowski as chairman of the FCC, the issue of a la carte cable pricing could go away, Multichannel News reports. “We would not expect Genachowski to be the particular thorn for cable operators” as outgoing chairman Kevin Martin has been in the past, said two analysts for Stifel Nicolaus, the trade says. Genachowski is instead predicted to put a focus on consumers’ open access for broadband networks, Multichannel says.
