IPG Starts Digital Marketplace Service

Interpublic Group’s media-buying unit, Mediabrands, is starting a service to create custom digital marketplaces, part of an effort by large advertising firms to take back control of Web advertising from tech firms, the Wall Street Journal reports. The service will group ad space from thousands of sites and add a layer of data such as which sites the consumer has visited, and then the service will show ads only to the consumers the marketer is trying to reach.
