Many major TV station groups have joined together under the Open Mobile Video Coalition for a new mobile digital TV service, MediaPost reports. About two dozen broadcasting companies have joined for the service, including NBC Television, Gannett Broadcasting, Fox Television, Scripps Television and Hearst-Argyle Television, as announced at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show, the site says. The service will use a new technology in mobile phones that beams signals directly from local stations. It will kick off with 63 stations in 22 markets through new phone technology to be released on mobile devices by LG Electronics, Samsung and Delphi, among others, MediaPost says.
