ABC Stations Float Oscars Discount

ABC’s station group is putting forward a proposal to offer ad buyers a discounted package for Sunday’s Academy Awards broadcast, a deal that would include 35 spots to run on nine of ABC’s local stations, MediaPost reports. The cost of the deal, which would reach about 21% of the country, would be $765,000, down from a posted value of $1.14 million, and signals that Oscar ad sales could be significantly lower for ABC this year, the publication says.
