Cable Groups Call Data Pointless

Cable TV trade groups told the Federal Communications Commission that the regulator’s data-collection efforts would be useless because the industry doesn’t serve enough customers to warrant new laws, Multichannel News reports. While former FCC Chairman Kevin Martin estimated that cable passes through 70% of U.S. households and that 70% of those households subscribe to cable, the companies say those figures are below 60% because of competition from satellite and telecommunications companies, Multichannel News says.
