A “horrendous economy” is being blamed for the layoffs of eight Seattle-based employes at Belo’s Northwest Cable News, the Seattle Times reports. Three other staffers were let go as the channel’s Portland bureau was closed, but two of them were rehired by Belo stations in Seattle and Portland, the paper says.
